Purchased for my 26 year old snowboarding son. After reading many reviews, I decided to purchase the Smartwool snowboarding socks. They are padded in shin and heel area for comfort along with great support. My son loves them. He not only wears them to ski in, he also wears them under his work boots. My son is an electrician who is out working in all sorts of elements both hot and cold. His feet have always been a problem. They get wet from either sweating or rainy conditions that leave them sore and very smelly. His shin bones also are a problem from the work boots rubbing on them all day. He wore a pair of Smartwool snowboarding socks to work one day and came home with feet that he has never known. They were dry, not aching, shin bones were fine and his feet did not stink. The smelly feet has been a real problem for him. Now his feet are in great shape by the end of the day. I have been instructed to always send Smartwool socks for birthdays and Christmas. This year he is getting 4 new pair. Should have purchased 7, one for each day of the week. I think I will go do that now.

temperatures were between 10-20 degrees the entire trip and I was never cold wearing these (as part of my gear). Feet were always toasty, dry, comfortable!

I purchased these socks as a small gift for my 14 year old son, and he wore them for our whole ski trip. He said they were the softest, most comfortable socks he has, although I think the design played a part in his decision. His feet are on the small side, but these fit him great.
